A Tarot Spread for Introspection
These tarot card prompts and tips can help you use divination as a tool for introspection. All spiritual practices should be used to empower and improve those who use them. For this reason, one should remember to use tarot as a flexible guide to explorative thinking, not a premonition of inescapable fate. For example, should you pull the Death card, do not jump to assume you or someone you know will drop dead in a matter of moments. Instead, consider other interpretations: will you quit your job, are you missing an old friend, have you not mourned a loss in the past?
There is no wrong way to do tarot, but it can intimidating to start out on your own and fun to try a new spread even if you are an expert. It can be helpful to spend a few moments connecting with your breath and meditating before a tarot reading. Once you are in a calm and receptive state, you may choose to set your intention. An intention can be very broad or rather specific. Shuffle your deck how ever you choose. Take five cards and flip them over. Read the following prompts and try to match them with a tarot card in the spread.
1: How do I perceive myself?
2: What do I try to hide about myself?
3: What is something that will help me develop?
4: What is something I should let go of?
5: What should I embrace right now
When you pull a card, look at the art work before researching the card's meaning. See what resonates with you, what you find interesting, comforting, or discomfiting. Test your intuition by making your meaning for the card, then if you chose, you can refer to the deck's book for more information.
